VE Day 75 LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall

VE Day 75 LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall

Friday 8 May 2020, 19:00

On Friday May 8th 2020, exactly 75 years to the day, the Royal Albert Hall will host VE Day 75,  a special concert of commemoration and celebration to mark ‘Victory in Europe’ Day, one of history’s most significant dates, led by the same producers that brought you box office successes DamBusters with Dan Snow and D-Day 70.  In honour of this historic date the British government has moved the May Day holiday, providing a national public holiday across the UK. This event live from the Royal Albert Hall will kick off a weekend of celebrations.

The event, which will be live streamed into cinemas, is presented by SSAFA - the Armed Forces charity in partnership with the Daily Mail.

The Second World War represented the greatest conflict the world had ever seen and this unique commemorative event will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, while at the same time celebrating the victory for Britain and its allies.

Hosted by a well-known personality, the event will be a two-hour, music-led concert featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, plus very special guests.  VE Day 75 will be a concert of epic, stirring and emotional music from some of the greatest British composers: from Elgar’s Nimrod to Walton’s Spitfire Prelude & Fugue; Holst’s Planet Suite to Ron Goodwin’s Battle of Britain Theme. An inspiring and patriotic evening featuring the best of British to commemorate VE Day 75.
